6th Annual Trip
9/14-9/17
Humanity in the Middle is a Non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded and based here in St. Louis, Mo. Our primary goals are to bridge the gap between Community and Law Enforcement and provide personal and professional development for youth. We do so by taking 15 to 25 scholars from various school districts on an all-expense-paid trip to multiple places across the nation rich in Black History and Black Excellence.
Scholars are required to submit an essay between 500 and 1,000 words about an African American figure or event that has influenced American history or culture; the reason the topic was chosen; and why they should be selected as a contest winner. In addition, students are required to have three letters of reference submitted on their behalf, one being from a school staff member familiar with them, and eight hours of volunteer service must be completed prior to travel. Four of those hours will be orchestrated by the Humanity in the Middle Team. Scholars are responsible for the remaining four.
*All contest entries must be submitted by Wednesday March 25, 2023, to by 11:55 p.m.*
This year’s destinations are Memphis and Nashville Tennessee where we will visit the Lorraine Motel, The Underground Railroad Museum, Fisk University and other places rich in black history!!!
